I’m not much of a culinary wizard, so I’m not big on cooking. I occasionally dabble in baking, mostly cookies at Christmas time and occasionally something my kid wants to try. So my comfort foods are generally ones I can buy store-made, because that’s more enjoyable than trying (and usually failing) to make something delicious! If I am somewhere I have access to a good bakery I love fresh croissants, heated in the oven so they’re crispy on the outside, and with a good (decaf) latte to dip them in. That’s a very rare treat though for me, so mostly it’s a cup of tea (I like Harney & Sons Vanilla Comoro) made my my kid with some McVitie’s Digestive Biscuits on the side for dipping. Simple, but very delicious and comforting!
What about you guys? Anyone out there better in the kitchen than I am and actually enjoys baking yummy treats? Anyone else a tea and biscuits person?

Well I can’t do the decaf. That’s for sissies 🙂 but I would never turn down a cup of coffee and a croissant. Nice post.
To each their own! My brain doesn’t mix well with caffeine, so I can’t really do anything like coffee or black tea if it’s not decaf, but if it weren’t for that I’d be with you! Thanks!
I’m a huge tea nerd, though I generally don’t pair it with biscuits; but I have an online friend who blends teas and I’ve discovered some perfectly amazing things just by following her work. My current favorite a savory, smoky black tea, generally doctored with wildflower honey and a bit of milk.
Oh wow, that’s amazing! I like blends – lavender or vanilla with black tea are my favourites, but there are some excellent fruit blends and spicy tea blends as well! Sounds like your friend is on to something delicious!
Not tea and biscuits i would say more of a coffee & donut girl. I am in Wisconsin so maybe that more the speed around here. I myself do not really like to cook or bake but have found recently is it can be therapeutic
if my body is cooperating that day.

My family are British, so I think perhaps the tea and biscuits thing comes from that… but substitute as needed for your culture and part of the world! Any similar beverage and snack that’s comforting fits the theme! I’m glad you’ve found that baking and cooking can help your state of mind – and I totally get the body’s limitations. Me, too.
This is so relatable! 🤣 I’d rather buy from the store as well!
Haha yeah, that’s more my speed!
