WEDNESDAY BLOGGING CHALLENGE | FAVOURITE SCARY MONSTER

Nope. Nooooooope. I do not do horror movies, I do not like scary. I am a firm wimp, and that will never change. Monsters? Not for me! I did go through a Walking Dead phase, but I liked it in spite of the zombies, not because of them. I’ve never read Frankenstein, or I’d say maybe his monster. I’m at a complete loss for this one! Once again, I’m going to hand this over to you guys. Are there any monsters for the faint of heart? Nice ones? The kind that make you a cuppa and keep a respectful distance?

The closest I’ve got is Clive Barker’s Cabal, in which becoming a monster is something like finding your family. It’s not entirely cozy, though: while the monsters are less horrible than the humans that hunt them, they’re still monstrous. It was made into the movie Nightbreed, which… Oh god, that thing is so flawed, and the studio so completely failed to understand what it was trying to do that it very nearly ruined it, but I love that movie anyway.

I haven’t heard of either, but I do find that there are some books that just defy proper adaptation! But if it’s one you love, sometimes a flawed attempt is better than nothing for sure.
