WEDNESDAY BLOGGING CHALLENGE | FAVOURITE SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM

I don’t really use that much social media these days to share things. I used to, and arguably I still should. But I barely have time to read books and blog about them, let alone then engage on social media – which can mean spending a lot of time browsing and re-sharing, or finding things to post, or staging and taking photos. I just don’t have the time anymore. So I’m not going to talk about my own use of social media (I do still have Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, they’re just not super active), but more what I enjoy consuming.

YouTube is probably my favourite. I love watching videos about books and reading (you can find my favourite BookTubers here), and I comment when I can. I also participate in the BookTube Prize every year, and it’s a highlight of my reading life. So that’s definitely number one. I used to enjoy Facebook years ago before it started prioritizing my feed so I only see posts from the accounts I’ve recently engaged with over and over rather than the newest posts from every page and person I follows. I used to like Twitter before covid made it a fully depressing place to be, and then Musk bought it and now it’s just ick. I still like Instagram – I like seeing relaxing videos of calm country settings and posts about books people are reading, so that’s a nice place to go. I don’t use TikTok because it’s too short. Just when I’m starting to like an idea, it’s over. That’s pretty much it for me!

What about you guys? I bet you use more social media than I do, so what’s your favourite, and why?
