This week’s prompt was actually if I’ve met anyone famous. I’m not crazy about that prompt. For one thing it feels a bit icky to list out famous people I’ve met and when or how I’ve met them. I’ve met a few, but they were just being normal people at the time, not in any kind of professional capacity. I know that being seen as a kind of novelty is part of the choice celebrities make, but still. It just doesn’t sit right. So Instead I’m going to share a couple of movies and shows I have seen filming near me.
One neighbourhood I lived in was a very popular filming location. The most notable show that filmed there was Supernatural. There was a burger joint that was frequently used, along with the pawn shop directly across the street and some other buildings in the area. We saw the crews and actors several times over the course of a few months, and whenever we watched the show we recognized our neighbourhood. The other I saw filming was Fringe. They used the Vancouver Art Gallery downtown, and I remember seeing a huge set using the whole building and grounds. It was quite the sight to see! Others I either saw locations for or actors from were The L Word, some of the Twilight Saga films and Once Upon a Time.
That’s it for me this week. What about you guys? Have you seen filming locations in your hometowns?

See, nothing really films in my area; I don’t run into famous people at all, essentially.
Meh, I don’t feel like it’s as exciting as people seem to think it is. After all, on screen they’re carefully made up and presented at their best angles…. but when you see them at the grocery store they’re just, you know, people buying groceries. I guess maybe the magic of celebrity isn’t something I really buy into to a huge extent? I guess I’m trying to say I don’t really think it’s something you need to have FOMO about. 😉
There’s a lot of filming in Albuquerque since Breaking Bad, but so far it’s just an inconvenience when they shut things down for filming.
Yes! I used to get so annoyed when sidewalks were shut down and I had to detour. Especially because it always seemed to happen when I was late for something!
Yeah, there are a lot of films that have been made in Toronto. Generally, they put signs up nearby warning pedestrians that we’re about to walk into an area that’s being filmed.
I generally find other walking routes as you never know how busy they’ll be or what kind of detours you might have to make around certain areas. 🙂
Yeah, mostly those signs here were for the news. Movies they just direct you around normally, though that might just be the ones I ran into! Mostly it’s an inconvenience, particularly since it’s not like you can stop and watch the filming, because it’s usually cordoned off and off limits!
