WEDNESDAY BLOGGING CHALLENGE | MY FIRST CRUSH?

Wow, okay, so we’re getting personal this week, huh? I’m sorry to be a disappointment, but I actually can’t remember. I had “crushes” on boys in my classes from when I was in grade one, and I have vague memories of nice hair or great taste in shoes or something equally unimportant as being the main attraction at that age, but I don’t remember names or, if I’m honest, faces. It’s all very much too long ago. I did have a “boyfriend” in grade two, but really it was just because it was the ’80s and people hadn’t yet figured out it was okay to be friends with the opposite sex, so if you had a friend who was a boy and wanted to spend time together at lunch time and recess, you had to be boyfriend and girlfriend, as absurd as that sounds when we’re talking about seven year-olds. So yeah, no good story on this one!

ETA (Unless you count David Bowie in Labyrinth of course, but who from the ’80s didn’t have a crush on him or Jennifer Connelly – or, indeed, both of them??)

What about you guys? Do you remember your first crush? (Maybe some of you younger folks out there?) Or are you like me, having lost those memories to the sands of time where they (probably) belong?

Hahaha! Yeah, celebrity crushes are an entirely different beast, but I will say that my feelings for Bowie have not entirely dissipated to this day, so clearly 7 year-old me had good taste! Lol

Yeah, it’s been such a frustration to me, because I generally enjoy hanging out with guys more than girls. Even now. Less drama, less sneaky stuff, less manipulation and mind fuckery. Not that all girls or women are like that, of course, or that men can’t be, just in the groups I knew it seemed to split more that way. And I just don’t have the time or mental energy. Plus I used to enjoy drinking, and the guys could keep up better! Ha.
