WEDNESDAY BLOGGING CHALLENGE | MY LAST MEAL

I’m not a huge foodie. Mostly because I’m vegetarian, and there are very few big deal meals that don’t feature some kind of dead animal. I do have favourite meals, but there has only been one experience in my whole life that stood out for its culinary delights: visiting New Orleans. Of course, New Orleans is a lot about meat, but there were a surprisingly large number of truly excellent vegetarian meals to be had there. If I could do a farewell tour, there are about five places I’d love to eat again there, but if I had to choose just one, it would be dinner at Irene’s. Now, when you look at the menu there’s literally nothing for vegetarians. But they made me the most beautiful salad I’ve ever had, a vegetarian pasta and the dessert was definitely last meal worthy. Not only that, but the staff were so friendly and the restaurant was cosy and inviting. We ate there twice while in NOLA, and both times it was amazing. (Green Goddess, The Ruby Slipper and Café Amelie were also amazing.)

Second choice would be Christmas dinner with a combination of my Mum and Dad’s specialties – Yorkshire puddings, roast and mashed potatoes, nut loaf, mixed veggies, cranberry sauce and gravy with mince pies for dessert. Yum.

What about you guys? What’s your favourite meal of all time, and can you pick just one?

Yeah, most places down there were like that. People took time to check in on how your food was – one place the waitress brought her boss over to meet me when she heard I was vegetarian because he was vegan. He recommended some food that was amazing. It’s just such a welcoming place, and even with everything the city has been through and the areas that are still devastated, the people are so resilient. It is somewhere I absolutely love.

I haven’t been to Toronto in years, but I remember some lovely food when I was there! Hopefully I’ll get to visit again, if I do I might hit you up for some recommendations! I hope you get to New Orleans someday. Food aside, it’s one of my favourite places. So vibrant and colourful, and even has amazing book stores!
