I never used to really do that much, but I have to admit I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for Christmas. I’m not religious, so that wasn’t it, but I do like the sort of cosy feel of it. It’s partly the time of year, it’s partly the twinkle lights, it’s partly just the feeling of it. Since becoming a mom, I put more effort in. Now we decorate the windows, put up more lights than my partner can really stand, my kid and I like to bake for neighbours and family, we have been doing a dinner over the past few years as we weren’t going to family gatherings, and we have been slowly adding nerdy decorations to our Christmas tree. I also love giving presents. I’m not that fond of opening them because I find it stressful if I am not thrilled with them but don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings, but I just adore getting the right things for my kid and seeing the delight that accompanies opening them!
What about you guys? Do you have any winter holidays you enjoy celebrating with your family? If you’re not a fan of the familial ones, do you have alternative traditions you’ve developed that you look forward to at this time of year?
