This is a fun one. I actually have something for this, because I’ve found a few word-of-the-day memes recently that have actually taught me some new words. Here are some favourites:
- Morgenmuffel – someone who doesn’t like waking up in the morning and as a result is extremely grumpy (German)
- Spuddle – “to be extremely busy while achieving absolutely nothing” (1600s)
- Foofaraw – a big fuss over something small
- Hurkle-Durkle – hanging out in bed past time to get up (Scottish)
- Latibulate – finding a corner to hide from reality in or an intense urge to retreat (1600s)
As a result of this list I feel like the 1600s and Germans really get my personality.
What about you guys? What was your word or words for this week? Have you heard of or used any of mine? Will you be adding any to your vocabulary now?

I like “spuddle.”
Me too!! It defines a large portion of my existence. Haha!
What a great list! All new to me and numbers is two through five. I totally relate to, but I’m a morning person, so number one is not so much me.
Ha! Yeah, I love mornings once I’m up, but not as much as I enjoy being asleep so I don’t happily hop out of bed in the morning!
I love these words. I’m often to be found spuddling away and latibulating! Thanks for these. I’m keepin’ ’em!
Haha! I enjoyed finding them. You’re welcome to them!
Spuddle is a great word.
Yes, it speaks to me.
