I don’t really know that many interesting facts, at least not that I can think of. I think I remember something about elephants being the only mammals that can’t jump, something about their knees. Oh, and I’ve watched Frozen a few times thanks to my lovely child, so I also heard from Olaf that turtles breathe through their butts. Is that real? Anyone know? No?
What about you guys? I bet you’ve got something better than I do for this one! Share, share!

So I don’t know about land turtles/tortoises but I do know that sea turtles of all varieties have like a dual lung thing cause of the whole swimming underwater and holding their breath and buoyancy I know that something with that causes air to escape through both their nostrils and their rear end but I don’t know if it is actually the butt.
That is so interesting!!! Thank you for sharing that, it makes so much more sense now!
I’ve also heard that elephants can’t jump, but I’d be very surprised if they were the ONLY animals that can’t. There are a lot of animals! Surely someone else has that problem. According to bing, turtles can engage in something called ‘cloacal respriation’, in which water that comes in their cloaca while they’re expelling waste or eggs is stripped of its oxygen and used by the turtle’s blood — but it’s not their primary form of getting O2!
Right?? Like just looking at a rhino or a hippo I can’t really imagine either of them bursting out into a series of joyful hops and bounces somehow! Very interesting about turtles. I probably should have googled myself, but this has turned out to be quite fun as everyone weighs in! 😉
A good fact on elephants.
Haha, thanks!
