Well this could be the shortest post ever written, because my blunt answer is: all of the above. Reading is reading, yo.
That said, I do have preferences. I enjoy most either a nice, crisp floppy-covered paperback or a new hardback that still springs shut when I try to open it. But I enjoy formats for different uses. I don’t always have time to sit down and read a physical book. Particularly this year, when I’m on solo parenting duty all day every weekday and doing my part evenings and weekends as well. So audiobooks have become my primary format for reading, because they have to be or I can’t read. There have also been lots of times in my life when digital books have been my preferred format – when I used to read on my work commute (I have a bad back so can’t carry extra weight like books around), when I was traveling or when my kid was a baby and I was breastfeeding for hours a day and had nothing else to do. So I think each format has come to the fore at different points in my life, and I am fine with all of them. My preference for a new physical book remains, but if other formats mean I can read more, I’m fine with all of them!
What about you guys? Do you have a preference of format for your reading? Do you step outside of that comfort zone when you aren’t able to indulge in your preferred format?

True – I just like to read, I don’t mind which!
Fully agree!!!!!
Totally with you on this: whatever works for the current situation is what I want!
Right? I feel so lucky to live in a time when books are available in so many different formats so that I’ve been able to keep reading, even when life doesn’t allow me to pick up a paper book. Such an important part of my life!
Reading is reading for sure!
Agreed!
