It’s weird, because when I was a kid I loved stormy days. They were so cosy and we had a roaring fire and it felt like I was so snoodled and comfy. But as an adult, I now bear responsibility for dealing with any issues that arise due to said storm, and we live in an area where trees frequently come down on power lines when the power goes out, leaving us without any heat, lights, hot water or a way to prepare food. It’s not so much fun now. If it’s stormy but not windy or snowing so there’s less of a chance of power outage, then I enjoy cuddling up in bed and watching some educational TV with my kid, or reading a book if it’s a school day. It’s a great time to catch up on some home tasks I’ve been putting off if I have the energy, or to work on a project if not. I also enjoy tea and maybe a biscuit or two. I enjoy fleece clothing and warm sweaters, and I will not, under any circumstances, venture outside. Not exciting, but that’s me, really!
What about you guys? What do you enjoy doing when the weather is horrid?

Reading is the perfect stormy day activity.
It certainly is. Though I tend to feel like it’s also the perfect sunny, rainy, foggy, cloudy, snowy day activity… so it’s possible it’s not so much about the weather!
For me, it depends on just *how* horrid the weather is. I like thunderstorms and even being out in them… unless it’s cold. And, of course, the boys are huge fans of snow days, if it means they get to miss school…
Yes, I am the same – even if it’s not cold, I will only venture to a distance I can retreat from within five minutes! We had some snow days recently, and one of them was spent at the nearest sledding hill for three hours! Day well spent, I’d say!
I actually forgot about the responsibilities that go with storm damage. At the end of 2022 we had damage to our roof that caused a lot of damp and rain damage. It’s weird the things we can block out! Haha!
Yikes! I’m afraid of damp and wet damage to a house because of mold. I’ve had issues with it in the past and never want to have to deal with it again! We also just had to replace a section of roof that wasn’t vented properly and had issues with damp. Ugh, not the funnest experience ever!
