Anyone who’s been here a while knows that I live with more than one chronic illness. This makes pretty much everything complicated, but particularly illness. So I guess the short answer to the question of what I do when I’m not feeling well is simple: panic. This effect has only intensified with the arrival of COVID, as you can imagine. Sickness can sometimes be not a big deal, but I only started having severe issues in one of my conditions after COVID started, so I’ve not had a serious illness with it yet. Which makes everything, including COVID absolutely terrifying. If it’s a not too bad illness, though, I mostly just keep going with it. I’ve got a kid, so I don’t get to curl up in bed and sleep for days because if I’m sick usually I got it from my kid, and my kid then needs to be taken care of as well. In those halcyon days before severe chronic illness and parenthood, though, I used to stay in PJs, sleep lots, have tea, and watch lots of trashy TV.
What about you guys? What do you do when you’re not feeling well? Any other parents out there who are vaguely unsure about what to do with this question?

I remember the days when the kids came home sick, or something was going around at the school where I was teaching. Not as prone to it now I’m retired.
Yeah, we’re in that now. But it’s even worse because every time symptoms start (4 times so far this school year, but who’s counting) there’s the accompanying panic of is this covid? It’s not the best! Glad that’s one thing you’re not dealing with as much anymore!
I’m with you: sleep! As much as you can, anyway. Tea is an excellent idea, too.
Yes, I agree. And cold medicines. Preferably the kind that induce said sleep!
