Hmm. This is a tough one. I don’t go in for the past, generally. I don’t even read much historical fiction. I’m not thrilled with the way things are going in the world right now, but I do tend to feel like in a lot of ways most points in the past were as bad – or, likely, even worse. If I could do a complete flight of fancy and also be younger and perfectly healthy so I didn’t have to worry about anything, I’d probably want to visit England of the past. Mostly because I’m really curious to see where I come from. I’d love to visit London in the time of Dickens or even post-WWII. I’d love to see it back when it was still being build up, and visit some of the early bookstores. Not super exciting, but that’s what comes to mind!
What about you guys? Where and when would you want to spend a day?

I have the opposite problem – I’m a history student and love history, my answer was pretty much ‘yes, all of it. now’. LOL
Hahaha! I am very curious about the past and would love to see it… briefly, from a safe distance. I think having chronic medical issues makes things like that feel more scary than fun, which is a shame when it’s entirely hypothetical and never going to happen! But the idea of popping up in London (“The Big Smoke”) during the coal fuel days as someone with severe respiratory issues is terrifying, no matter how curious I am about my history! If I were perfectly healthy (and possibly not a woman), though, I’d be curious about most all of it as well!
Yes, England in the time of Dickens would be interesting. Probably unsanitary though.
Hahahahaahaha oh man. That was my first thought about…. well, every single time and place in the history of the world EVER. Except the Arctic and Antarctica. Maybe. Probably getting there though!
Oh, wow…Dickens…GOOD call! I might like to meet some of my British ancestors…one of my ancestors was declared a saint by the Catholic church…I have Charlemagne in there, someone that was persecuted at the Salem Witch Trials and pressed to death…lots of kings and queens, that supposedly trace back to Arthur…I think I might like to go to Glastonbury and see if there really is a vail between real life and Avalon…I mean anything is possible if we’re doing time travel, right?
Yeah, I wonder a lot about the past. My family isn’t so well known – I really know nothing about them! So it would be interesting to actually see them and know how they lived. I imagine they were pretty poor, and probably had hard lives. But still. Interesting to know where you come from. I’ve been to Avalon, and it didn’t have a vail when I was there, but that could just be because it was the middle of the day! Who knows!
I’d love a fly on the wall vantage point in English history, wouldn’t want to live through, just watch it.
Yeah, I fully agree with you there!
I hear you there! So many parts of the past would be very dangerous to visit.
Would you want to see Stonehenge, maybe?
Yes, especially as a woman! I’m not sure. I mean I’d be curious to see it being built. I’ve been a few times – I went back when you could actually walk up and touch the stones, and that was pretty cool! They’re interesting to see and the mystery is fascinating!
