It’s time for this week’s WWW Wednesdays, hosted by Should Be Reading blog (head over and check them out!).
This link up asks three questions
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What are you currently reading?
- What do you think you’ll be reading next?
Here are my WWW answers!
What did I recently finish reading?
I have had a slightly slow week, reading wise, despite it being a long weekend. We decided to skip town for a couple of days and head out to an island nearby, where we hung out with family and friends. So I talked about books a lot, but didn’t read as much! I did finish this one book, however, which was the perfect read for a very hot long weekend. It was easy to dip in and out of, and an action-packed, suspenseful read from page one.
What am I currently reading?
I’ve got a few books on the go right now. I’m still chipping away at the Helene Hanff Omnibus, as well as The Mockingbird Next Door. But while I was away, I picked up a copy of The Cold Dish, which I’ve been meaning to try for ages, and started reading. I’m really into it!
I also gave Helene Hanff: A Life a try, but I am not impressed so far. The writing is so-so and in the first chapter I’ve already found several grammatical and spelling errors. I don’t think Helene would have stood for it. I also have The Goldfinch and All the Light We Cannot See on my bedside table with bookmarks in them, but I’m not really actively reading them right now so I decided not to include their covers this time around.
What do I think I’ll be reading next?
Oh, that eternal damnation of a question! Every week I subject myself to this query, and every week I spend way too much time changing my mind over and over again. But since you must have an answer, here it is. You’re welcome. I hope you appreciate my torment.
Anyway, Ordinary Thunderstorms was recommended to me (along with several other books that are now at the top of my wish list) over the weekend because I’m currently on the hunt for great fiction that takes place in England. I’ve started a whole list of books set in the UK, but this one is the one I’m planning to start next. (Also if you have any great, contemporary fiction set in England/Scotland/Ireland/Wales to recommend, please share in the comments – I’m dying to know!)
The Vacationers is one that’s been sitting there looking at me for ages, and since the summer is more than half over, I really feel like I should get to it soon (spoiler: I probably won’t). Bonkers – well, Jennifer Saunders is hilarious. We can all use some laughs. And because I’m enjoying The Cold Dish so much, it’s quite possible I’ll throw all these over and just continue right on with the next of the Longmire series!
That’s it for me this week – what are you guys reading? What did you recently finish? So glad you liked I Am The Mission, did you think it was better than the first one? I did.
I just liked the characters more and liked that there was more action in it.
also Jennifer Saunders is brilliant, and she's married to Ade Edmondson which makes her even better 😛
Good luck with the reading this week hun 🙂
