WWW WEDNESDAY | #46

It’s time for this week’s WWW Wednesdays, hosted by Should Be Reading blog (head over and check them out!).

This link up asks three questions

  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What are you currently reading?
  • What do you think you’ll be reading next?

Here are my WWW answers!

What did I recently finish reading?

The Girl On the Train - Paula Hawkins       Why New Orleans Matters - Tom Piazza

I’ve had a great start to the year so far! Two books down in a week, and more than halfway through a third. I’ve been on a bit of a binge lately – I’ve read nearly 7 books since finishing work for the holidays on December 20. That’s a lot for me. I really enjoyed The Girl On the Train – a great start to the year – and Why New Orleans Matters was a really interesting glimpse into the culture of a city I’m looking forward to visiting later this month!

What am I currently reading?

Just Kids - Patti Smith

I have heard so much about this book, and have had it sitting on my shelves for ages. The first half of the book had me completely transfixed, despite never having been a Patti Smith fan. I love how she transports her readers to the New York of the ’60s and ’70s, and the tenderness with which she describes her relationship with Robert Mapplethorpe. I’m just at the part now where she’s beginning to perform and am feeling a bit less enamored – I don’t care for the lists of celebrities she associated with, and I’m not really impressed since I haven’t heard of most of them. Hoping she’ll get back to the more personal story she started with soon.

What do I think I’ll be reading next?

Leaving Before the Rains Come - Alexandra Fuller       If I Fall, If I Die - Michael Christie

I’m looking forward to both of these (thanks to Random House for the review copies!). They’re out later this month, so I’m going to be diving right into them as soon as I’m done with Patti!

What about you guys? What have you recently read? What are you enjoying at the moment? Share in the comments!

I loved the first half of it. I was completely enthralled. I wasn't such a huge fan of the part where they started making it and there was so much name-dropping. I thought the story really should have just skipped over that and stuck to her relationship with Robert – that was the part that really worked! Very glad I read it though.

Patti's name dropping is so intense. Also: Rimbaud! Everything Rimbaud all the time! Are you over it yet? Ugh it feels blasphemous saying anything bad about Patti Smith.

Love the Leaving Before The Rains Come cover, oh my goodness. I've never heard of it before, though!
